For example the Black List and Blood List books each go for nearly $100 dollars or more, also.:D. According to the band, Seikima-II is a group of Akuma ( 悪魔, 'demons') from the futuristic hyper-evolved dimension Makai ( 魔界, 'demon world') that preach a religion called Akumakyo in order to propagate Satan through the use of heavy metal music. If you're new to the wonderful world of Seikima-II works, this is one of the best starting points you may find. Though missing many must-have hits, it is a very complete and true representation of the band's many-sided talents and messages. The rest of this review might seem cryptic to those who don't know much about Seikima-II... At a closer look the tracklist looks a bit strange. Too many famous titles are missing. Not a song from 'The Outer Mission'. Well, 'Ponk' and 'Frightful Restaurant' albums also were omitted, and that's kinda normal. But 'Winner!' is in every hits collection and on every live record (except two European ones, but they're a special case). Yet all three mentioned albums can be considered 'experimental' and a bit sideward, maybe that's the reason... But then '1999 Black List' ain't your average 'greatest hits' compilation, it is closer to a concept one, meant to present the very core of what Seikima-II is about. And if we count 'akuma kumikyoku...' as one song instead of 5, then the tracklist looks like this: 4 old songs (B.D.14 - B.D.09), 3 new songs (B.D.03 - B.D.01), a previously unreleased one, 3 new songs, 4 old songs. And the 3rd song from any end would be from 'akuma ga kitarite heavy metal' (there's probably not much meaning in this, just an amusing observation :) ) But the first and last songs seem really symbolic to me - and though it's pretty logical to start a '1999 Black List' with a '1999 Secret Object', but 'EL.DORADO' was the last song of the century... It's hard to say whether Seikima-II already knew what the last song would be (this CD was released in May, more than half a year before the Final Black Mass) and deliberately put it that way for us to discover later, or it was just a prophetical coincidence. Yet only 2 songs from this 'black list' weren't played on their last day on Earth, The Doomsday: namely 'Fire After Fire' and 'yaburezaru mono tachi', both had already been performed on previous two days. A truly great work, a compilation filled with hints and symbols - and the magical music of Seikima-II.
